Your Dental Records After Treatment in Turkey: What to Bring to Your Brussels Check-Up
Medically reviewed by Dr. Öznur Yedek, MSc — D-Care Turkey, Side / Antalya. Last updated: October 2026.
You come home from Side with a new smile, a few bags of souvenirs — and, ideally, a folder of documents about what was done in your mouth. Months or years later, when a crown feels different or it is simply time for a check-up, that folder becomes one of the most useful things you own. A dentist who sees your implants for the first time can work much more precisely when they know the implant system, the materials and the timeline of your treatment. That is exactly why our clinic D-Care Belgium in Ixelles asks patients who were treated in Turkey to bring their records: you are not starting from zero in Brussels, and you are not on your own.
Why your dental records matter after treatment abroad
Implants, crowns and bridges look simple from the outside, but each one is made of specific components. Without information, a dentist in Belgium may need extra X-rays or time to identify what you have. With good records, a follow-up visit is usually calmer and more focused.
Implant brand and system: screws, abutments and spare parts are system-specific, so this matters if a part ever needs attention.
Materials: zirconia crowns, E.max veneers or a titanium bar in an All-on-4/6 bridge are cleaned and checked in slightly different ways.
Timeline: knowing when implants were placed and when the final teeth were fitted helps interpret healing on an X-ray.
Comparison images: a panoramic X-ray taken in Turkey gives a baseline to compare with later images.
What to ask for before you leave Turkey
At the end of your treatment, it is reasonable to ask your clinic for a written summary. At D-Care Turkey, you can ask the team for the documents you will need for follow-up at home. A complete file usually includes:
A treatment summary: which teeth were treated and what was done (implants, crowns, veneers, extractions, bone graft or sinus lift).
Implant details: brand, system, diameter and length of each implant, often shown as an implant card or sticker.
Material of the final restorations: for example zirconia crowns, E.max veneers or a hybrid bridge on a titanium bar.
Your latest X-rays: a panoramic image and, if taken, a 3D scan (CBCT), preferably as digital files.
Medication and aftercare instructions you received.
Contact details of the clinic, so your Brussels dentist and the treating team can coordinate if needed.
Tip: take photos of every page and save the digital files in your email or cloud storage. Paper folders get lost; a PDF in your inbox does not.
What to bring to your check-up in Ixelles
When you book a check-up at D-Care Belgium — Avenue Auguste Rodin 12, 1050 Ixelles (Brussels) — bring:
Your identity card and your health insurance details, as for any dental visit in Belgium.
The treatment summary and implant details from Turkey.
Your X-rays on a USB stick, by email or on your phone.
A list of the medicines you take and any medical conditions.
Your questions, written down, so nothing is forgotten during the appointment.
The dentist in Ixelles examines you and, if useful, takes new images. Consultations there are reimbursed as with any conventionné dentist in Belgium. Treatment received in Turkey is a separate matter and is not covered by Belgian health insurance.
How Brussels and Side work together
Our two clinics are designed to share information in a structured way, always with your permission. If you agree, X-rays and intra-oral photos taken in Ixelles can be sent to D-Care Turkey, where Dr. Öznur Yedek and the team (including our prosthodontist Çisel for crowns and bridges) review them. A consent form covers this transfer of your health data between Belgium and Turkey.
The dentist in Ixelles examines you and gives an opinion.
The treatment plan, the quote and the final decision about any new or corrective treatment belong to D-Care Turkey.
Any final treatment decision is made only after examination and imaging.
This also works in the other direction: if you have not been treated yet, you can start with a consultation in Ixelles, so your file is ready before you ever travel to Antalya.
What if you have no records at all?
It happens — documents get lost, or a treatment was done years ago. Do not let that stop you from getting a check-up. The dentist can still examine your gums, your bite and your restorations, and X-rays often show a lot of what is needed. If you were treated at D-Care Turkey, write to us and we can check the information we hold about your treatment and help you get a copy.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need my records to book a check-up in Ixelles?
No. Records help, but you can book a visit without them. Bring whatever you have.
Can my Brussels dentist read X-rays taken in Turkey?
Digital X-rays are usually shared as standard image files, which most dental practices can open. Bring them in digital form if possible.
Will my data be shared without my agreement?
No. Images and information are only sent between Ixelles and Side with your explicit consent.
Who decides if something needs to be redone?
The Ixelles dentist gives an opinion after examining you. The treatment plan and the final decision belong to D-Care Turkey, after examination and imaging.
